Approach

Mr. Shapiro's approach to mediation and conflict resolution is a transformative listening approach that first off enables all parties involved in the conflict to feel heard and recognized for their interests and concerns. Mr. Shapiro works with the parties in listening together to the other's concerns and finds that when this type of sharing takes place, often miracles begin to happen in the process. Mr. Shapiro recognizes that conflict often cycles through the mediation. This means that when the parties regress or reach an impasse what is often occurring is some earlier need or concern was either not fully expressed or heard by the other. Mr. Shapiro keeps the parties eyes on listening for the key needs of the other. When this takes place, there is a greater capacity to develop settlement options and solutions that may have not been considered prior.
