Description of Practice
A Professional Mediator with the Mediation Association of Colorado (theMAC), I offer specialized domestic mediation grounded in 40 years' experience as a psychotherapist in the Grand Valley. My credentials appear on the Judicial District 21's website. I also offer 40-hour Basic Mediation classes.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have a Doctorate Degree (Psy.D.) in Psychology. With eight years as a practicing mediator, I was head of the Mediation Center of Mesa County for three years, courtesy of funding by our County Commissioners. As a psychotherapist, I also have extensive experience in domestic violence treatment, depression, anxiety, and couples/relationship improvement.
Director of Mediation Center of Mesa County, 2008-2011, including community mediations, recruitment and training of mediator volunteers. Over 100 mediation cases, including domestic mediation and community mediation.
Master's in Social Work, University of Utah, 1981. Psy.D. in Psychology, California Coast University, 2001 Institute for Advanced Resolution - Core Mediation Training, 45 hours; 2007 Conflict Management Consultants, LLC - Domestic Mediation, 46 hours, including 40 hours domestic mediation and 6 hours Ethics training. Mediating Domestic Relations Cases in Colorado Courts, 8 hrs, 2016
Mediation is an opportunity for people who have a future together to improve their skills in working together toward mutually satisfying goals. I strongly believe that those agreements forged by those engaged in the issues are much more effective than the rulings by the court.
I believe in each person buying into the mediation process. My fee is $150 each for a 1-1/2 to 2-hour session. That includes my paperwork - gathering information before the mediation, Memo of Understanding, etc.
