Description of Practice

Denisa can help you work out smart, respectful, fair and affordable divorce.

“Besides being incredibly affordable, professional, and fair, we are walking away from this feeling that the settlement was equitable. Most important, and I was adamant about this from the start, is that we are not adversaries and can still talk to each other. So many people end their marriage hating each other leaving friends, family, and children paying the price.” -Gary and Linda, Colorado Springs, CO

Divorce does not have to be the end of the world. I highly recommend staying amicable and gentle with one another. There are many roads to be traveled. Choose your way wisely. Thank you Denisa Tova for your guidance, support and tender love through this.” - Constance and Jeff, Denver, CO

US Magistrate Judge, Denver, CO: “Dear Ms. Tova: As a former district court judge in the State of Colorado and as a trial court judge for over 21 years, I want to extend my personal thanks to you for assisting citizens of Colorado with dividing their finances rationally during their divorce. As a former state district court judge, I handled thousands of divorces and would have loved to have the types of services that you offer in divorce cases that I presided over.”

Professional Background

20 years ago I launched a financial planning career. I obtained MBA and became a Certified Financial Planner™. I saw an alarming pattern. Divorce left people in financial ruin for many years. I saw bankruptcies and foreclosures that often resulted from divorce agreements that did not take the future of either party into account. I’ve helped hundreds of divorcing couples reach a settlement without involving expensive attorneys or the courts. Divorcing couples need financial information and education to help them look beyond their divorce date and consider how the settlement will impact them in the long term. Serving as both a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst and a Divorce Mediator gives me a unique set of tools to help couples take an intellectual approach to their divorce and remain civil and respectful, which also allows them to co-parent effectively. Crafting a child centered parenting plan is a lynch pin of our mediated sessions. The goal is to cause the least amount of disruption for the children and lessen the trauma of divorce. I facilitate a dialogue to help parents examine forward looking parenting options. I wrote a book, The Bedroom Elephant: a guide to successful divorce. It is full of real life examples and tools to help couples understand what to expect, how to take the first steps, and explain what financial and parenting decisions they will have to make…...all to be able to negotiate a reasonable settlement and recover financially after divorce. Basically how to get a "good" divorce because divorcing "badly" will cause life long battle.

Experience

I've mediated close to 2000 cases in the Colorado area.
